Frequently asked questions
How do I take my tincture?
Ok so this is probably the most common question that I get asked and the answer is simple.
The tincture comes with a pipette for your convenience, simply squeeze the rubber bulb at the top of the pipette to empty it and remove it from the bottle to ensure it is empty.
Re-insert the pipette back into the bottle and squeeze the rubber bulb again and release. The pipette should now have filled a third to a half full.
This is classed as "one shot", depending on which tincture you are using, you will will put all of the one shot under your tongue or in some warm water if you don't like the taste.
It is totally up to you as to wether you take one or two "shots" as you cannot "overdose" on the tinctures.
Most tinctures are taken in the morning and in the evening (although I wouldn't recommend taking Cordyceps in the evening as this gives you energy and focus and may interfere with your sleep).
Do you make capsules, powders, gummies etc
This is another of those common questions that I hear a lot when talking to people.
The answer is 100% NO, I do not now and never will make mushroom based tablets, capsules or gummies etc.
The reason for this is simple, I want to make and provide a product that actually works and is backed by scientific evidence from peer reviewed studies.
I have NEVER come across (despite extensive research!) any scientific evidence that supports the effectiveness of tablets or gummies.
The method that I use is one that was developed by the University of Queensland that utilises a double extraction method to fully remove the functional compounds from the mushroom to make them truly bio-available to the human body.
Why is this? Well, all mushrooms are made of something called Chitin (pronounced "Kite-in").
Chitin, is a fibrous carbohydrate found in mushrooms, insects, and crustacean shells, and is not considered easy to break down in the human body, though it is not completely indigestible. While long considered entirely indigestible, modern research indicates that humans produce enzyme (Acidic mammalian chitinase) capable of breaking it down, but the process is challenging.
So simply mixing dried mushroom powders into gelatin for gummies or putting it into powders makes the functional compounds difficult to digest, in fact recent studies have shown that approximately 20% of the population do not produce the necessary enzyme to be able to break down mushrooms.
